Prof. Robert Kati is a distinguished scholar in Mathematics Education, university administrator, and corporate governance and strategic leadership specialist, with extensive experience in academic leadership, institutional governance, research, postgraduate education, and strategic oversight. He currently serves as the Dean of the School of Graduate Studies (SGS) at Kibabii University, Kenya, where he provides strategic leadership in postgraduate training, research development, supervision, quality assurance, and the advancement of graduate education.
Prof. Kati holds a PhD in Mathematics Pedagogy, a Master of Science in Mathematics Education, and a Bachelor of Education (Science). He also holds an International Postgraduate Diploma in Corporate Governance and Strategic Leadership and has successfully completed the CREST Online Training Course for Supervisors of Doctoral Candidates at African Universities, strengthening his competencies in doctoral mentorship, research ethics, academic supervision, and postgraduate research management.
With extensive experience in university teaching, administration, research, and institutional leadership, Prof. Kati has distinguished himself as a strategic academic leader committed to strengthening institutional systems, enhancing quality and accountability, and promoting excellence in research and postgraduate training. His leadership experience spans academic administration, quality assurance, governance, strategic planning, audit oversight, and stakeholder engagement.
Prof. Kati joined Vihiga Water and Sanitation Company Limited (formerly Amatsi Water and Sanitation Company Limited) in 2021 following a competitive recruitment process as a Board Director. During his tenure, he has served in various leadership capacities on the Board, including Chairperson of the Board, Chairperson of the Audit Committee, and Chairperson of the Technical Services Committee, on a rotational basis. These roles have provided him with extensive practical experience in corporate governance, financial and audit oversight, technical and operational governance, risk management, and strategic decision-making within the water and sanitation sector.
As a corporate governance and strategic leadership specialist, and drawing from many years of university-level administrative experience, Prof. Kati contributes to the Company through strategic leadership, policy oversight, institutional accountability, risk management, performance monitoring, and sound corporate governance practices. His approach combines strategic thinking, evidence-based decision-making, ethical leadership, and a strong commitment to service delivery and institutional sustainability.
